Based in Newmarket Ontario, just 40 minutes north of Toronto, our little studio is working on some big things!

MAEK was started out of pure necessity to create. Curiosity and passion to explore where design can take you is a key motivator for us. We look to push the boundaries of what we create by bringing good design systems to many different applications.

Diana Druhora, the founder and creative director of MAEK Design Studio, started out in the design field where she completed a Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design in Toronto. She wanted to create a cohesive combination of art and design through a collection of quality handcrafted pieces.

Our pieces are made-to-order, with each item being our primary focus when being built from start to finish. We pride our pieces in being high quality, sustainable, and long lasting. We love experimenting with new materials and pushing the boundaries of how each material can be manipulated to create interesting and bespoke pieces.

As collectors of design objects and furniture, we’ve opened up our pieces and services to the design industry to help finish off projects.

Our design influence for creating and sourcing is strongly rooted in brutalist elements of design. We look to take inspiration from the design movement’s use of angles, repetition, and deep connection with raw materiality. The aim for our collection is to blend the rough and the delicate to create elevated and refined pieces with a quirky edge.
